About AdvancedTCA from CompAmerica:

AdvancedTCA is the brand name for the PICMG 3.x series specifications for  next-generation central office and telecom application. We are entering the AdvancedTCA cabinet and PICMG 3.0 market for server technology with the above, our first fully integrated AdvanceTCA based "Ultra Server".

The PICMG 3.0 specification is the base specification for others that are defining fabric protocols like ...

PICMG 3.1 for 10/100/1000 Ethernet
PICMG 3.2 for InfiniBand
PICMG 3.3 for StarFabric technologies
PICMG 3.4 for PCI Express

PICMG 3.0 is intended for higher performance applications and is legacy free in terms of the direct electrical support for existing bus-based solutions such as PCI or H.110. The mechanical elements will be based on existing IEC 60297-3-xxx standards (Eurocard equipment practice) with additional requirements specified to meet the intended applications. A robust system management scheme will be defined. Equipment practice for power and cooling at the board and shelf level will be defined. Specific regulatory specifications will be referenced within PICMG 3.0 to give guidance to board, shelf and frame manufacturers building carrier grade equipment.

The PICMG 3.0 "core" specification will specify board, backplane and shelf mechanicals, power distribution and the connectivity required for system management. Multiple zones for connectors and their alignment and keying features will also be defined, and the physical mapping to a connector family will be specified. Specific fabric definitions will be undertaken on subsidiary specifications. In this manner, component interoperability will be defined by the combined PICMG 3.0 core specification and a subsidiary fabric specification. It is the intent to develop the core specification and subsidiary specifications as nearly in parallel as possible with a target publication of the initial 3.x specifications is completed.

The 12U, 12R2 was designed to meet the harsh environment of shipboard, airborne, and ground mobile applications per MIL-STD's.  The ability to mount 9U x 400mm or 6U x 160mm cards and a wide of array of device mounting options makes this unit an ideal platform for custom system design.  Highly configurable, the unit can be order with choice of VME, VME64X or CPCI backplane, fixed or shock isolated card cage, rear I/O card mounting, device mounting, 500 to 1200 watt PSU, AC or DC input and custom I/O patch panel. Available in both 22" and 25" depths the unit holds up to 20, front loaded cards (fixed).  Airflow is front to rear utilizing high volume fans.  Shock isolated versions are designed to attenuate 25G shock inputs to the chassis to less than 10Gs at the card cage.  All components, materials and design concepts are chosen to meet the applicable MIL-STD environments.  The units come completely assembled and wired.
